front row at a fashion show.

I've always enjoyed watching fashion related movies, devil wears prada, the september issue, shopaholic, you name it. I think its the thrill of thinking wow, what went behind the designs, the sketches, how many times they had to re-work on the samples just to make sure it would turned out perfect and runway worthy. It has always been my dream to watch a fashion show on the runway. I've always loved watching them on tv, from the interesting themes and the lengths they go to just to ensure that they pull off a fabulous one, watching their designs come to life. From the likes of chanel to rizalman, you can really see that so much energy, work and thought went to creating an immaculate fashion show.

So of course, when Zalora invited me to watch the fiziwoo/Zalia show at the annual Singapore Fashion Week, there was no way I was going to pass the golden opportunity. It was a breathtaking experience. They dressed me in a glittery dress from Zalia, which I loved so much because of the slimming effect and the glittery part of the dress which didn't need to be ironed! The easiest what to wear solution for those last minute hari raya visiting or guests coming over without notice.

I didn't know what to expect but at the end of it, I thought, omg everything was planned soooo beautifully. From the clothes to the models, to the accompanying music played live with violins and cellos. Couldn't help but go "omg, this dress is soo nice!" "The color is sooo pretty!" Until my friend said 'Everything's nice to you right??!!" Haha! Can't help it!! Plus, we were seated in the front row so everything was literally right in our faces hehe.

I'm wearing the Embellished Metallic Pleated Dress in Navy Blue, satin silk dUCk scarves and clutch from Forever New. Pictures don't do justice to this dress, it sparkles in real life, really.

Thank you Zalora for the invitation and Fatiha Faulzi for coordinating everything :)

i found a friend in you.

One of the greatest gifts my workplace has presented me with is a friend/work buddy/colleague/chinguya/person to go through thick and thin with. Its not easy to get someone who totally understands what you're going through. As much as I always talk to Aman or my parents about problems I face at work, there's a limit to how much they can understand. Only someone in your exact shoes would know how you feel and I'm glad I found her! :)

I think work buddies are not only necessary, they are crucial, vital, important, hahaha you get what I mean. When one doesn't check the email, the other reminds. Hungry? Let's go down together! When one doesn't bring their pass to tap in, the other, no wait, most of the time both of us don't have it with us lol!

But you get it right? The toughest job may seem easy when you're doing it with a friend. So even if we're tasked to decorate some noticeboard or stay back till 6 pm almost everyday to supervise rehearsals, as long as you have a buddy with you, yup, no problem, leave it to us *flicks shawl*

Wearing Paisley shawl from interhijab, Eiffel Tower blouse from bangkok, Black skants from FV BASICS, Sofina bag from Fashion Valet.

Huge shoutout for the FV BASICS skants, I'm so guilty of re-wearing it again and again and again.  Definitely mommy approved!

made of steel.

There are moments in life when you question the decisions you make, the things you do, the words you say. In totality, all that you think of when the words tumble, when things happen, the next morning, you wonder, who did I hurt? Was it someone I love? Can I take that back? Can you un-hear the words I shot you?

In moments of anger, or sadness, you tend to overlook things, and when you do, the biggest regret develops. You can never put back the toothpaste you squeezed out of the tube into the sink. The same way as how you can never take back your words once it's out.

You think you're made of steel. But at the end of the day, when the words hit you, you're just the same, like everyone else. You crumble. So you choose silence. And you talk to The One who listens.
In the middle of the night, you sit on your prayer mat and you hope and pray that every single grievance you have to tell, He's listening.
