sponsored: walking ikea!

I've never thought of wearing a polkadot dress. Polkadot top, yes. Skirt, yes. But a full maxi polkadot dress, hmmmm, I had to muster all the courage I had. What more in a bright yellow, ikea-themed color! Walking ikea for the day!

But I thought, hmm, one day, I'm bound to meet a polkadots themed event, so why not just get one now. I think the trick of wearing something so bright and dotsy, is to pair it with something plain. Don't go crazy with another patterned outerwear or shawl or else, you'll really look like a clown. But if you love being quirky and you have a super fun personality then by all means. I certainly think different people can pull off different type of looks, you can count me out though, I usually play safe.

I normally stick to something either plain, or girly. There'll be rare moments where I dress up a bit boyish but most of the time, I am the typical pastel floral hearts girly girl. Predictable.

If you're not a fan of bright yellow, thepoplook has this dress in lots of color combinations! So go, on, head over there and ogle at all the colors and dots!

I've not been wearing dresses or skirts for quite some time now because of the weather. Its always raining heavily and as much as I love my dresses, I really don't want them to end up mopping the floor everywhere I go. So, one day, it was all bright and sunny and I had to shop for my wardrobe at Ikea, so what was I waiting for, of course, I grabbed this beauty and off we went!

Every time I look at it, can't help but be reminded of grecian style dresses. Free sized, so its perfect for plus size and super tall girls, and I love the gold elastic belt that cinches at the waist, so I can adjust the height of the dress. Its on sale too! Get RM 20 off when you quote SGHIJABGIRL20 (:

who run the world? girls.

I believe this year, for the first time, I've lost count of the number of weddings I've attended. Sigh. Got to accept the fact that I'm getting old hurhurhur.

We had a small, very halal, bachelorette party the other day. I keep repeating very halal because I don't want people to imagine that it consists of um, r-21 cakes and games and whatnots. I personally find it distasteful and as much as there are some western qualities I admire, I think we must clearly distinguish and choose the qualities we want to emulate. So hence, it was very halal, decent and most importantly, classy. Maarif girls are classy ok =D

It was a small get together of our clique since secondary school (the always get into trouble together, do nonsense things but study hard clique HAHA). Tonnes of jokes and insults thrown around. Our friendship's certainly not the "I love you, we're good friends forever" type. We insult each other so much its a wonder how we survive our friendship but deep down, we know that's what makes us, us. and I think what makes everything so special is that, we grew up together. Literally. We knew each other since we were 7 so no matter how much we drift apart, there'll always be a special place for each and everyone and allllllll the memories we share. By now, you should be able to guess, who's the excessively sentimental among them all. Bahaha.

So, this is not really an ootd entry. This is an entry dedicated to the first one among us to get hitched.

May your marriage last till Jannah, insyAllah (:

They have it in two colors, navy and nude. It was such a torture for me to choose a color because knowing me, I always, always, lean towards pinks so I thought, ok enough, no more, you have way too many nude/pink dresses.

I love that it has elastic cuffs which makes it so easy for me to pull up my sleeves when I'm taking my wudhu' (: and it was sooooo comfy. Even my bestfriend asked me if I tailored it myself hehe.

Ooo btw, props to the Fika (Beach Rd) staff for being very nice. Service was prompt and good, even when we hogged the place till closing time, they were quite nice as to not chase us out. I mean, they did drop us subtle hints like, passing us the bill, dimming the lights haha but they were kind enough to not be outright mean and tell us, listen, girls, you've got to go.

What is up with me and this irritating pose n.n

do you see life in monochrome?

In our lives, we come across many strangers, and some strangers sneak past the line and become our friends. But in that group labeled friends, they're all different. They may not share the same interest as you but they're still your friends for God knows what reasons. I don't think one has to be exactly similar for me to call him/her a friend, sometimes, you need opposites. You're you, you don't need another you. But there are times, when I wish that I can do things with friends of the same interest.

Like um, for example, have a nice brunch at Coffee Beanstro and take a stroll at Karl Lagerfeld's little black jacket exhibit. So when V asked me if I wanted to go, of course I said yes! But of course, even if we don't share the same interest, doesn't mean I love you less!

Back to the exhibit, I've been meaning to go for quite some time but I just couldn't think of anyone to go with, who wouldn't yawn at the sight of monochrome tinted photos of different people styling the same black jacket. I mean, I can see some of you guys yawning already at this description! Haha!

I'm wearing a polkadot pinafore jumpsuit thingy and I love it to bits! I like that the straps are detachable so if you don't feel like wearing it pinafore style, you can just remove it and it'll be something like your palazzo pants. Material, as usual, is made of all sorts of fab. The waistband is elastic so it'll suit girls of different sizes! Non-sheer, quality assured and this baby comes in 5 colors. I can't wait to launch it on shopsghijabgirl soon!

Thanks V for the day out! Truly enjoyed it!:)

shopsghijabgirl, let's go!

Finally, an advertorial for myself. I feel weird writing this but if I can write advertorials for other blogshops, I must write one for myself too! Hehe.

I believe it goes without saying that whatever I choose to sell on shopsghijabgirl are truly clothes that I would wear. And in that sense, I pay close attention to the fabric used (none of those flimsy thin sheer material), to the details, especially when it comes to lining for skirts. I used to sell the Blair maxi skirt and to be honest, I love the material and the flare, but I disliked the lining because the coverage was just, not good enough for me.

So this time, I handpicked and checked every single item.

As I'm writing this, all the sweaters are out of stock except for the Hearts All Over sweater which I used to sell months ago. This time, I restocked and brought in quite a large quantity as it went OOS within minutes the previous time.

The minute I saw these pleated maxi skirts, I fell in love. The length was just perfect, hello 100cm and I've always been searching high and low for pleated maxi skirts that would not make me overdressed. Most of the pleated maxi skirts I found were either too short, or the lining is too too short! This is the one that I can wear to work with tucked in shirts or blouses AND I can also wear it with something lace or sparkly to a wedding. As usual, I will always choose my favourite pastels, mint green & dusty pink. Then I thought, hey, not everyone will like pastel princessy colors so I went for the more royal jewel colors, emerald, royal blue and royal purple.

Ah, this is the classic Empire maxi skirts
Seriously, I think pockets on maxi skirts are heaven sent, especially this ones cos they're kind of concealed. I'd say this is the perfect-for-a-teacher-skirt. If I'm wearing skirt at work, I'm always scrambling, "where to put my work pass?" "where do I put the toilet pass" HAHA! So if you have a job that requires you to carry small things, like a pen, pass or just because you like having pockets, this is a must have.

The ultimate thing I love about this Empire maxi skirts is not only the concealed pockets, concealed elastic waistband but the material! Top quality georgette ok, not the flimsy thin chiffon kind! The fabric is close to non-sheer (especially for the darker colors) plus lining! How can I not keep this skirt in all colors you tell me!

and then, MY ULTIMATE FAVOURITE SWEATER!
Not even joking guys, I loooooooove this one. I'm thinking of keeping another one, just so you know, for back up lol. In case anything happens to the first one hehe.

I love that the hearts are multi colored, means I can just about pair it with any sleeveless dresses or skirts I have! I like the fact that it is also stretchable so it can fit anyone from a UK6 to UK12! Stocks are running low for this baby too, so if you're thinking and thinking, don't think, just get it :P

All the other items are either sold or pending so I'll stop here. I look forward to bringing in more awesome goodies for shopsghijabgirl! What are you girls looking for? Lemme know okie!
