Sponsored: surisara.com

Wow. Ramadhan really zoomed by fast huh?

Felt like it was just yesterday I was getting used to teaching while fasting (and silently complaining of thirst hehe) and now, we're already in our last week. Gosh, time really flies.

So, um, the inevitable question.

Got your Hari Raya baju yet? (HEHE)

I already have my baju raya but I thought hmmmmmm, I need those simple but elegant ones for the times people come to my house and I need to serve them in my baju kurung because oh you know, its Hari Raya so even when I'm washing dishes or making drinks, I can't possibly be in my tshirt and jeans.

Don't get me wrong, I have such deep love for my traditional outfits! I practically look forward to wearing them because even though, my jeans and tee are comfy, I feel that its really important to stay rooted to your culture and what better way to say I'm proud to be a Malay than wearing a traditional outfit right? :)

So boy, am I glad, I met surisara.com

First of all, look at the packaging people. All sleek and minimalistic. I think packaging from every blogshop/online store really plays a huge role and it sort of tells you, the kind of quality and service they provide.

I chose Kenanga, a cream colored outfit from the Syomir Izwa love Suri Sara collection.
I love the simplicity of it all, because the details in this outfit really stand out. The gorgeous embroidery and the box pleated skirt. The reason why I chose something so simple is because I know I can always mix and match with other outfits so what better way to stretch the dollar (I mean, ringgit hehe) right?

I love the box pleated skirt. Initially, I thought it would just be another mermaid skirt but its really gorgeous. When you walk, the folds flow so nicely!

and yes, there's a concealed zip on the sleeves, so that it'll be easier for you to take your ablution.

The second one I chose was Linda, in green. Made of Thai polysilk, the sheen is so gorgeous in real life. Its not really flowy as compared to the previous outfit, but the sheen and the structure of the outfit, exudes a certain classy feel. Similar to the previous outfit, I love that it is also versatile. I can always wear the top with pants or even jeans to work hehe.

THE BEST THING ABOUT SURISARA?

They cater to cute-sized and super cute-sized people! With sizes from S to 6XL!! I know some of my friends complain that online stores always cater to small sized ladies, so when I first got to know, I was so amazed. Everyone wants to wear pretty clothes so its really awesome that they cater to ladies of all sizes. If you don't know the sizing and if you want to estimate, I wear a size S. I wear an M in the pictures above but a size S would have been a nicer fit.

So, in order to receive your clothes before Hari Raya, hurry, place your order now.
Malaysian Registered Mail only takes about 3-4 days (through my own experience), or if you want, you can opt for PosLaju! You only need to pay about $16 for shipping if you opt for MRM. Share the shipping fee with your friends if you girls are all buying!

OOTD: my tarawikh outfit

I usually never iron out my intention and my aims before Ramadhan but this year, I figured, I really want to be more focused and committed in my ibadah. Past years, I usually end up skipping tarawikh prayers towards the end either cos I was always iftar-ing outside and then by the time, I reach home, I'm too tired. So this year, alhamdulillah, I've been keeping up, telling myself, no excuses, no matter how nice the bed looks, what is an extra 11 rakaahs compared to what Allah has blessed me with?

So, at times, if I'm not doing it at home with my family, I'll go to the multipurpose hall near my house. In the simplest outfit I can find in my closet and my telekung bag hehe.

I love putting together this outfit because I like the structure of a long top and a flowy maxi skirt. I think it gives you an illusion that its a baju kurung but the skirt just adds a whole new dimension to the outfit. The skirt material looks so lux and initially, I thought it was going to be thick and heavy but surprisingly, the material is so cooling and light.

To create a similar look, all you need to find is a top/dress that goes all the way to just above your knees or covering your knees slightly and then, get this swishy flowy skirt for the lovely flair.

See the gorgeous satin finish and the flair when you walk?

This Carissa skirt from Farahlulu.com comes in 4 colors.
Deep red, Electric blue, Fuschia and Black!

Nadya

OOTD: the beach

If I'm to tell you something about myself, I'd probably say this.

I'm not a nature person.

I still remember my trip to Switzerland with my parents and the first time I saw the surrounding snow capped mountains, I went, oh gosh, this is mega beautiful beyond words.

and then by our third night up in the lodge, in the middle of practically nothing except for lush greenery, tall, looming, white mountains, and several other cabin lodges, I felt so restless. I came to a conclusion that day, this girl here, needs to see her concrete buildings, shops, and the hustle bustle of the city.

But there's just something about the beach that gives me that instant calming feeling I can never find elsewhere. Maybe because I was brought up by parents who love to swim and so, my childhood memories were filled with the sound of waves crashing on the beach, the salty annoying taste of seawater, the feeling of being carried away as I float on my back staring at the vast sky.

I love that it gives me comfort, the kind of feeling that makes you feel safe, and home. It takes away all the loneliness because no matter what happens, just like the shore, always there, always waiting for the waves' arrival.

A lot of people go to the beach either after a heartbreak, or after a joyous occasion and you just need that one moment, when you are one with the world that surrounds you. Maybe its the sand, maybe its the sea, maybe its the seashells, or the footsteps you leave.

So, even though, I'm not a nature person, I'm always glad to call the beach, home.

OOTD: comfy and chillax

First week of work passed by in a blink of an eye.

HAHA not really.

But I'm settling in nicely and everything seems to be running smoothly, alhamdulillah. May it remain like this hehe.

To celebrate the end of first week of work, I went to the movies to catch Despicable Me 2! Hehe madly in love with the movie, the plot is so typical and predictable but ohmygosh, its filled with so much cuteness. And so much, is really an understatement @.@

I figured since I'm going to the movies, I'd dress comfy.
Throw on a huge baggy sweater and patched jeans to give off the it's-my-weekend-i'm-feeling-oh-so-relaxed look :D

I picked out the sweater and jeans from the recent Zara sale. Score! Got it for such an amazing discount.

When I first saw the sweater, I was still on the fence "to get you or not to get you?". Then I saw the asymmetrical hem and went "that's it. got to have you now off to the cashier we go!" In a blink of an eye, people. Decisions at a sale have to be made fast before someone grabs it and you'll regret it for the rest of your life haha ok exaggerating as usual.

Oh btw, have you heard of a super cute store called Ameemoo?

I know right, the name itself makes me smile.
"Where'd you get your pins from?"
"Ameeeemooo"

Too cute.

I love love love the pins.

They have it in all sorts of designs from flowers to circle button cute thingamajigs but my favourite is this particular one with the camera. Gosh, love at first sight. You know how much I love taking photos!

and I love this lovely chain ring bracelet which I feel can be worn with a casual outfit, or even when dressed in a traditional outfit :) They also have shawls and headband pieces and even cute pin cushions and the list goes on, you've got to see it for yourself
