OOTD: ice skating, jcube!

Salam alaikum!

So..before practicum starts, I promised myself I'd go iceskating at the newly opened JCube! Hehe! It was so fun! I remember going there a lot with my friends back then in Primary & Secondary school, it was so cheap at that time too, only about $10 for 2 hours. When Fuji Ice Palace closed down, I did go to Kallang's but I didn't like it. Not only was it so expensive, it was too crowded. Boo!

If you're planning to go JCube's, avoid the 3 to 5pm timing cos the person told me that slot is the busiest. I went for the 5.15 to 7.15pm slot and the crowd was alright. Not too many, not too little (: Also, they sell the tickets by slots so if one slot is sold out, you'd have to wait for the next.

Navy Blazer with white trimmings; Collage
Blue Oxford Shirt; uniqlo (THE BEST!)
Floral Jeans; H&M
Bag; korea
Loafers; tod's

Planned to window shop since I heard Mango was having its annual sale and ended up buying some items hehe. If you ask me if it was worth it? I'd probably tell you to wait a bit cos I know Mango will slash their prices even further after several weeks. then they'd most likely run out of their popular sizes so by all means, you can check it out. There were lots of floral tops and dresses going for about 19 to 59. The pants and jeans were also quite cheap about 30 ish? The shirts and blazers were still expensive boo.

I got a heart printed top (could not resist, I loveeee polka hearts), floral and this satin-silkyish blouse. I wanted to wait but I figured when practicum starts next week, I'd probably have no time to go to town sigh.

I've been looking allllllll over for pink pastel jeans and finally found this pair of cotton candy goodness at Zara hehe. Love the cutting so so much! Howevs, if you're buying Zara jeans do take note that after the first wash, it'll expand to about one size bigger, so ya....just sharing! (:

Ok gtg!

Btw, Preorder for the Blair Chiffon Skirts is currently open so order away! (:

Recipe: Cheesecake Brownie Cupcakes

Salam alaikum!

Lately, I've been craving for something cheese-ish & chocolatey at the same time. I thought of making an  oreo cheesecake but my parents weren't really a fan of cheesecakes and you know how cheesecakes only taste nice if you have a small slice. Anything bigger than the usual slice, I'll get really sick of it. That's my opinion though, I don't know about you hehe.

So..I made cheesecake brownie cupcakes!

This was really a trial and error kind of thing, I googled for a cakey brownie recipe cos the one I always use is pretty fudgey chewy and combined it with a cheesecake topping recipe. It tasted so good that I only got to grab two of em. My parents polished them off the plate when I wasn't at home T.T

This recipe yields about 20-24 cupcakes.

For the brownie cake:
3 cups of plain flour
1 cup + 2 tablespoons fine sugar
80g cocoa powder
1 tsp bicarbonate soda
1/2 cup sunflower oil
3 tsp white vinegar
1 tsp vanilla extract
125ml water

In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder and baking soda with a handheld electric whisk on slow speed until all the dry ingredients are well combined.

Put the oil, vinegar, vanilla extract and water in a bowl and whisk to combine.

While the electric whisk is running in the flour bowl, slowly add the combined wet ingredients, increasing the speed of the blender as the mixture thickens.

Continue to beat until all the ingredients are incorporated.
Spoon the mixture into cupcake cases until two-thirds full. Set aside.

For the cheesecake topping:
280g cream cheese
120g caster sugar2 eggs1 tsp vanilla extracta pinch of salt200g chocolate chips
Beat together cream cheese, sugar, egg, vanilla extract and salt in an electric mixer on medium-slow speed until smooth and fluffy. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand but don't overmix, otherwise the cream cheese will start to split.
Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the cheesecake topping on top of the cupcake mixture
Bake in a preheated oven (170 deg cel) for about 20 minutes, or until the cupcakes have an even golden colour on the cheesecake topping.

Happy trying! (:

Day 7 - Style Crush: Choose an HFW participant's style to try out with your own clothes! Show us which participants inspired you, or mirror a style that you might never have tried before!

Yay easy peasy theme! I've always admired Aishah Amin. I like that she advocates that your hijab should always cover your chest area, her choice of clothes are always so impeccable and she manages to pull off every single look, from boyfriend jeans to mermaid skirts effortlessly. I've always loved this outfit she wore at Yuna/Hana Tajima's event and have searched high and low for her scalloped sequinned top!

That was until I went to the recent Topshop/Dorothy Perkins' warehouse sale and tada! I found 2 items that completed the outfit. So happy! Hehe!

The sequinned scallop top is from Dorothy Perkins, grey mermaid skirt with the laced ends is from Topshop. I got the lovely satin shawl from Istanbul, purple cardigan from g2000, purple flats from Primark & glittery clutch from Topshop (:

So...did I manage to mirror my style crush's style? (:

HFW: Day 5/Eid Outfit

Salam alaikum!

Day 5 - June 01 - Special Occasions: Eid, formal, etc. -- how do you stay modest when you need to get decked out?

Ahhhhhh, I'm behind with the HFW entries because of this theme!!!! Stuck! I have no pictures of me at a special event so I gave up and dug out Eid pictures from last year! Hehe.

Here's pictures of me and my yuknights girls (we went to China for an overseas expedition last year together) when we went for our Eid visiting last year. Love spending time with them so much, wouldn't trade them for the world (:

You'll spot a variety of traditional Malay clothing from baju kurungs to baju kebaya. Baju kurungs alone can be designed in so many ways! I said it last year and I'll say it this time again, I am super proud of my traditional clothes. I get so excited planning my Eid outfit every single year, the trip to Arab St to get the cloth&lace and then off to the tailor. Ok enough talking....

Ok toodles!

HFW: Day 4/ Bohemian OOTD/ Sponsored Review

Salam alaikum!

Day 4 - May 31 - Destinations: If you could go anywhere for fun, where would you go & what would you wear?

Currently, I have no idea where I'd want to go except maybe...NYC. Hehe! So, I figured I'd go hippie bohemian for this look. I don't know how my destination is linked to my look (clearly I'm having a bit of writer's block right now not knowing what to write and all hur hur)

Polkadot shawl in oatmeal from shopsghijabgirl, yellow knit sweater from Cotton On that I just got recently for only $15! Super cheap and am really loving it, so comfy! Can't remember where I got the pleated polkadot dress though I think it cost me less than $15 too. My tribal-ish bag was bought in Cappadoccia, Turkey, brown pants from zara & my favourite and one and only denim Chucks.

So..recently, I've been getting a lot of emails asking me what's the shade of the red lipstick I'm always wearing. I used to love Mac Russian Red until I got Chanel's Rouge Allure Velvet in the shade of La Fascinante. Its so lovely, creamy and matte. I love that its a deeper red compared to Mac's RR.

Anyways, the trick to smooth application for your lipstick, especially these red colored ones is to apply lip balm first. My lips are a bit dry so I never skip this step. Having smooth lips from the lip balm helps the lipstick to glide on easier and also, last longer.

I was recently sent this product from Mentholatum. I'm sure you've heard of them right? I've always been a fan of their lipbalms and I'm pretty positive my first lipbalm was from Mentholatum as well haha!

They've launched a new Organic lipbalm range which is free from chemicals, preservatives or colorants. The ingredients are a nourishing blend of natural oils such as African Organic Shea Butter which is a very popular ingredient known to heal dry lips. Spanish Organic Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, and lastly, Organic Coconut Oil.

They're available in 2 amazing flavour/scents: Raspberry & Strawberry and Lavender & Orange. The first one is my favourite hehe! You can find it at Watsons, Guardian, Supermarkets and Departmental stores near you for only $7.90.

HFW: Day 3/ Old School OOTD

Salam alaikum!

Ahhhhhhhh today's theme's a bit tricky!!! @.@

Day 3 - May 30 - Time Travel: Bring something back from the past and combine it with a recent item or trend!

When I read it, I was floored. Something from the past?! Shift dresses? Crazy patterned polkadots shirt? White crisp shirts rocked by Audrey Hepburn? I already planned to head to town to shop with my bestfriend so there was no way I was going to be dressed in something crazy! Haha! So I asked my dad...

" your time, what was the in-thing that you guys wore?"

"I know, bell bottoms!"

Oh my, I have nothing bell bottomed in my wardrobe! I like my jeans/pants to be of a certain cutting and they're definitely far from being bell bottomed.

As a result of my question, my dad got a bit misty-eyed thinking of his past and his dressing (he loves clothes and he shops more than me!!!!), he dug up his wardrobe and shove me a pair of navy blue Lee bell bottomed pants.

"You can have it! I can't even fit in it anymore!"

Now I know where I get my clothes-hogger habit from. The pants are so much older than me and they still have a place in my dad's wardrobe!!!! Hahaha! and the funniest thing is, it fits me perfectly! It wasn't too loose or too tight, just nice! Felt so weird wearing it though, like I just received something from the time machine hur hur hur!

I'm supposed to combine it with a recent trend and I chose this maxi cardigan. I don't know if they existed or were a trend in the past but I know they emerged on the runways of 2011 so they count as a recent trend right? Hehe.

The cardigan's from Pull&Bear, flannel shirt from F21 and shoes were acquired from a recent Mitju sale!
