Outfit of the Day #15/ HFW Day 5

Ah time flies so fast! Its the fifth day of Hijabi Fashion Week and the theme is, Eid/Formal. Lucky me, I still have a picture of what I wore on the first day of Eidul Fitr! Every year, I usually tailor 2 sets of Baju Kurung (traditional Malay outfit) because I can't be bothered to hunt down for the perfect Eid outfit.  I dread the trip to Geylang Serai (a popular spot in Singapore where Muslims usually do their shopping for Eid) because I can't stand the heat, crowd and the search for my ideal Baju Kurung. However, this year, I totally forgot about purchasing the fabric from Arab Street and so, didn't have any choice but to search high and low for THE outfit at Geylang Serai *cringes*

Luckily, with the huge (and I mean, really huge) range of clothes available there, I spotted this one! Until today, I have no idea what it is exactly. Its like, a cross between the typical Baju Kurung and Baju Kebaya. Haha!

The navy top has this beautiful satin finish and sequinned on the sleeves and from the neck area all the way down. The bottom part is made of songket, a fabric made of silk and intricately patterned with gold threads.

To be honest, I really love and am proud of our traditional outfit. I look forward to donning them when I go to weddings and even to the mosques. Plus, I really like seeing families in Singapore during Eid, walking together with everyone wearing the same shade of blue, red or green. So cute!

Anyways, here are some photos of my friends and I when we go visiting during Eid :)

Love, Nadia!
